If a Canine Good Citizen (CGC) is the high school diploma for dogs, think of advanced training as college. Advanced training offers two college degrees for dogs: the AKCs CGCA and CGCU awards.

At MyPack, advanced training involves private lessons and field trips. Items on the Community Canine (CGCA) and Urban Good Citizen (CGCU) tests include:

• Obedient while owner talks to person

• Sitting and staying around other dogs

• Obeys “leave it” when walking by food

• Sits or stays while owner walks away

• Comes even with distractions present

• Stops and sits at each street corn

• Loose-leash walking through a crowd

• No pulling while passing other dogs

• Walks under control in public buildings

• In control on stairs or in elevators

• Housetrained for apartment living

• In control while riding in a vehicle
