Intermediate training helps a dog pass the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test, a standard created by the American Kennel Club (AKC). This is high school for dogs, and the CGC is the high school diploma.
At MyPack, a second set of group classes and field trips should help a dog pass the AKC’s CGC test (harder to do in a board and train). The 10 items on the test are:
Accepting a friendly stranger
Sitting politely for petting from stranger
Welcoming grooming
Loose-leash walking, owner in control
Walking politely through a crowd
Obeying “sit” and “down” and “stay”
Coming when called by owner
Behaving politely around other dogs
Remining confident when faced with common distractions
Maintaining training and manners when left with another person
